What is FitBloggin’ to you?
Home.
I’ve never felt more at home than I do surrounded by all the love and support at FitBloggin’.
How has the FitBloggin’ community impacted your own life?
More than I will ever be able to put into words. When I started FitBloggin’ in 2010 I never imagined it would become anything more than a few bloggers getting together for a day. Six years later and it’s still going strong? How is that even possible?
Have you had a weight loss success story?
My weight loss success story is my blog and my blog was the inspiration to make FitBloggin’ happen. I have two posts that span the last 10 years of my journey from couch potato to CrossFit fanatic.
How has blogging changed and how is the FitBloggin’ community influencing that?
Blogging is constantly changing. When I started it was all about the documenting, at least for me. All my online interaction came from message boards not social media. Now social media almost trumps my blog.
I have much more fun sharing and interacting in the real time environments of Facebook or Twitter than I do in the comment section of my blog. Yet the blog still gives me a place to journal and express myself more deeply. I wrote about this here recently: Is Blogging Dead?
Has the social media community changed wellness/fitness for the better or worse, and how?
I’m not sure, to be honest. Some people may say better, others worse, but I don’t fall into either camp. Sometimes change is just change. It is what it is and I will continue to express myself online and ride the waves of social media change.
What keeps you coming back to FitBloggin’?
The people. It’s why I kept it running as long as I did and why I will continue to support it as much as I can.
What is your best tip for blogging/social media success?
Three words: Consistency, transparency, passion.
What’s your fitness sweet spot?
CrossFit. I drank the cool aide people. I can’t help it. I love the challenge and after three years I’m the fittest and strongest I’ve ever been in my entire life.
What’s your personal fun fact?
I have an unhealthy obsession with popcorn and scary movies.
What are you most looking forward to about FitBloggin’ 2016 in Indianapolis?
Not working it! Is that too honest? I just want to hang with everyone without any responsibilities!!
