As you probably know, FitBloggin’ festivities are kicked off with a fun, informal 5k run around Baltimore’s Beautiful Inner Harbor. This year we want to inspire and motivate more attendees than ever to experience and enjoy this run with fellow bloggers.
But…
"You aren’t a runner?"
Ahhh poppycock!
You don’t have to be a "runner" to RUN! Don’t even think of it as running. You can walk, jog, skip or hop. We don’t care and as they say, everyone has to start somewhere! Why not attempt your first ever 5k being surrounded by the most supportive people on the planet?
To help you prepare, we are starting a series of post based on the widely popular Couch to 5k Program. Week 1 will start this Sunday, March 20 and end when you run your very first 5k, Friday morning, May 20 at FitBloggin’11.
Thanks to New Balance, we’ll be posting weekly workouts to get you prepared for the run and Holly Perkins will be offering her expert advice along the way.
Holly is a Featured Contributor to Intent.com and has had numerous articles in the publications and websites of Intent, Yahoo, Shine, Martha Stewart’s Living, Fitness.com, and Women’s World. In 2007 Holly was selected as the Weight Watchers fitness model and can be seen at WeightWatchers.com demonstrating various workout programs. In 2008 Holly joined the team at ExerciseTV to design and produce several exercise videos based on the workouts she uses with her celebrity clientele. More recently Holly teamed up with New Balance as the company’s first Fitness Ambassador and spokesperson.
I’m ecstatic to have her insights as we embark on this fabulous fitness journey!
So get ready to strap on the old sneaks and prepare for next week. Every Sunday from now until the conference we’ll be posting the weekly workout schedule and checking in on last week’s progress. Use the comments under the posts to participate or blog about it on your own blogs and leave a link so fellow trainees can check in on you. All you need to do is let us know you are participating by leaving a comment below!
Who’s ready to start training?!?
Here's added incentive to start training hard for Fitbloggin' 5K: I'll be running in it and I'll have a brand new, crisp ONE MILLION DOLLAR BILL in my back pocket. Whoever can catch me during race and snatch it gets to keep it! I'm not kidding!
SWEET. I'm IN. Beware, I'm super fast.
Well, I'll give it another go, but I'm having a hard time even getting (correctly) through day one. Le sigh…
All you can do is try your best! Rock it out! 🙂
Just set up my playlist last night 🙂 I've missed running. Ready to prepare for the 5K!
You "signed up" when you registered. We asked if you were interested in the 5k or 1mile walk. No need for an additional sign up.
I'm not sure I'll be able to run the whole thing, but I would like to at least try to run some of it. Looking forward to beginning the training plan!
Well, I'm not a runner but I am a good sport…so count me in!
I'm down.
When I registered, I signed up for the 1 mile walk, but I’m going to stick with this plan & hopefully run my first 5k at FitBloggin this year! 😀
I'm of the slow variety, but i'm definitely a good skipper 🙂
I started this program last week and today will be my Week 2, Day 3. I really love it so far. I am totally a NON-runner but this is definitely a good way to work your way up!
I'm ready to TRY!
I am SO looking forward to this!
