Live Blog: Better Blog Design on a Budget

Posted: September 24th, 2012 | Author: | Filed under: FitBloggin'12, LiveBlogs, Posts | Tags: , , , | 3 Comments »

Blog design is a combination of aesthetic as well as function.  In our everyday lives we are all designers.  Look know further than the appliances you surround yourself with in your home and how you utilize them.

When creating a blog you have two choices with design: hire Someone or DIY.  There is the saying that you get what you pay for so keep that in mind.

When hiring a blog designer ask:

  1. Do they have a portfolio?
  2. Do you like them?
  3. Be clear with what you want
  4. Know the budget (e.g. flat pay vs. hourly pay)
  5. Know what their services provide (e.g. design, maintenance)
In going the DIY Blog Design route understand “what is the web” with regards to how it relates to DIY concepts.

Florida Grapefruit FitBloggin'12

Good afternoon, my name is Dawn Jackson Blatner, RD, CSSD, LDN. I blog with food and nutrition in mind for the Huffington Post, and I am the author of “The Flexitarian Diet.” I am here at this conference on behalf of Florida Grapefruit. So we’re going to talk about a topic that is so near and dear to my heart, I call it, R.A.W. Bloggin’. And what R.A.W. Bloggin’ stands for is Realistic and Achievable Wellness. Okay so I believe in this and I have been at this conference eating lunch, doing boot camps, and I’ve met a lot of you, so I believe that we are all here with a very similar passion of realistic and achievable wellness. So I’m excited to talk to people who are also enjoying this topic. I believe very strongly that as bloggers, we have readers who care about what you are knowing, what you are feeling, and they sure care about what you are doing. So I would love to get that (information) out into the twittersphere using the #FitBloggin hashtag and official Florida Grapefruit handle, @JuicyScoopRead the rest of Live Blog: Realistic & Achievable Wellness by Florida Grapefruit»»

Ignite Fitness Chat and General FitBloggin’ Q&A

Posted: April 10th, 2012 | Author: | Filed under: Posts | 2 Comments »

The Ignite Fitness proposals are flowing in, and we are ecstatic by the excitement FitBloggin’ attendees are showing for this year’s keynote. (Click here if you don’t know what I’m talking about.)

But some of the proposals we’ve received are slightly missing the point of the Ignite format. We want to help applicants take a good idea and turn it into an amazing pitch and presentation.

Join us Thursday, April 12, at 9 p.m. ET on Twitter to get tips, tricks, pointers and any questions answered about the Ignite format and any general FitBloggin’12 questions. Current applicants will be able to reply if they’d like to revamp their proposal after the chat session. Remember, the FitBloggin’ community will be voting for seven of the 14 presentations. That means you have to BRING IT in the proposal stage.

The chat will be moderated by our fearless Ignite Fitness leader Kia (@bodhi_bear), and we will be joined by Ryan Wanger (@ryanwanger) an Ignite Boulder organizer and Kipp Champers (@lloyddobbler) an Ignite Denver organizer. Oh! and me, @RoniNoone, organizer and host of FitBloggin’.

Come with your questions and we’ll be ready to help! “See” you Thursday!
