Blog design is a combination of aesthetic as well as function. In our everyday lives we are all designers. Look know further than the appliances you surround yourself with in your home and how you utilize them.
When creating a blog you have two choices with design: hire Someone or DIY. There is the saying that you get what you pay for so keep that in mind.
When hiring a blog designer ask:
Session begins with audience members drinking Grapefruit G-jitos made with mint, lime, and touch of honey. Yum!
Good afternoon, my name is Dawn Jackson Blatner, RD, CSSD, LDN. I blog with food and nutrition in mind for the Huffington Post, and I am the author of “The Flexitarian Diet.” I am here at this conference on behalf of Florida Grapefruit. So we’re going to talk about a topic that is so near and dear to my heart, I call it, R.A.W. Bloggin’. And what R.A.W. Bloggin’ stands for is Realistic and Achievable Wellness. Okay so I believe in this and I have been at this conference eating lunch, doing boot camps, and I’ve met a lot of you, so I believe that we are all here with a very similar passion of realistic and achievable wellness. So I’m excited to talk to people who are also enjoying this topic. I believe very strongly that as bloggers, we have readers who care about what you are knowing, what you are feeling, and they sure care about what you are doing. So I would love to get that (information) out into the twittersphere using the #FitBloggin hashtag and official Florida Grapefruit handle, @JuicyScoop. We’re going to collect them and have someone add them up. Thea is the magical mathmetician, hand your cards to her. At the end of the discussion, we’re going to determine how much we’ve all lost. The Ignite Fitness proposals are flowing in, and we are ecstatic by the excitement FitBloggin’ attendees are showing for this year’s keynote. (Click here if you don’t know what I’m talking about.)
But some of the proposals we’ve received are slightly missing the point of the Ignite format. We want to help applicants take a good idea and turn it into an amazing pitch and presentation.
Join us Thursday, April 12, at 9 p.m. ET on Twitter to get tips, tricks, pointers and any questions answered about the Ignite format and any general FitBloggin’12 questions. Current applicants will be able to reply if they’d like to revamp their proposal after the chat session. Remember, the FitBloggin’ community will be voting for seven of the 14 presentations. That means you have to BRING IT in the proposal stage.
The chat will be moderated by our fearless Ignite Fitness leader Kia (@bodhi_bear), and we will be joined by Ryan Wanger (@ryanwanger) an Ignite Boulder organizer and Kipp Champers (@lloyddobbler) an Ignite Denver organizer. Oh! and me, @RoniNoone, organizer and host of FitBloggin’.
Come with your questions and we’ll be ready to help! “See” you Thursday!

Free blogging platforms offer your space as a subdomain, such as YOUR-NAME.wordpress.com. Check to make sure your domain is available if moving to self hosting. It’s also a good idea to get your blog name on each platform, such as blogger, WordPress, Tumblr, etc. – even if you aren’t going to actively use them.
WIndows Live Writer is great for writing content offline. You can save links to things that you use a lot, which saves time.
Use Feedburner – it helps people follow you by making it easy.

Does Fit Blogging have to be serious? According to the panel, the answer is a resounding NO!
From the satire of Jack Sh*t, the raw honesty of Operation Shrink Charlie’s Big Butt, or the snark of MrsFatass, each participant on this panel has their own way of using humor to share their story. This session will deal with keeping ideas fresh, finding inspiration, and allowing even the most serious of messages to come through with a laugh.
Ben Teal discusses what if you could create curiosity and evoke enthusiasm and emotion with social media?
