FitBloggin Sticker

With all the planning and organizing going on these last few weeks (OMG we are down to weeks!) one thing got us real excited here in the FitBloggin’ camp. The official FitBloggin’ sticker has arrived.

Ok, ok, so only Roni was really the only one that excited but seriously… how cool is THAT?!

Note: As you can tell from my other stickers I’m a runner who loves WordPress and Firefox. :)

Can’t Make it to FitBloggin’10? Run with us Virtually!

Posted: February 19th, 2010 | Author: Roni | Filed under: FitBloggin'10, News | 5 Comments »

Donna from Family Fitness Files has come up with an AWESOME idea! Let me quote her. . .

“Hey, just because I can’t be there doesn’t mean that I can’t do a 5K.” So that’s what I’m going to do. And all of you fellow non-attendees are invited to join me.

On March 20, I will be hopping on my treadmill and doing 3.1 miles. I don’t care so much about the time, although I’d like to finish in less than an hour. 50 minutes, to be exact.

So who’s with me? Shall we have our own 5K on March 20, even if we can’t make it to FitBloggin?

Click here to check out her post and report your 5K times to her and get in on the action remotely.

THIS is what FitBloggin’ is all about.

Body Image and Blogging: What are we teaching our kids?

Posted: February 3rd, 2010 | Author: Roni | Filed under: FitBloggin'10, News | 3 Comments »

“Young girls are more afraid of becoming FAT than they are of cancer, nuclear war, or losing their parents.”

-Lisa Bergins, Dying To Be Thin

The Body Image and Blogging session will focus on body image and how you express your feelings about yourself on your blog.

  • Would you be proud to have your children, and/or family members read your words?
  • What have you expressed about your self esteem and body image that you may not want your kids to know?
  • Will your words have a positive impact on your children?
  • What posts will you be immediately deleting after reading this?!

Our children are the bloggers of the next generation.

  • As the bloggers of this generation we have the power to influence positive change.
  • How can we unite on this cause?
  • How can we collectively promote self esteem and positive body image?

Heather Blessington will lead this discussion joined by Marsha Hudnall, Melissa “Lissa” Henriquez, Carla Birnberg and a panel of health and body image bloggers sure to set off a lively discussion! She is the founder of the collective body image blog WeAreTheRealDeal.com and mamavision.com, a blog dedicated to being a voice of reason for those with eating disorders.

Blogs, Accessibility, and SEO: Dispelling the Myths

Posted: January 4th, 2010 | Author: Roni | Filed under: FitBloggin'10, News | 8 Comments »

untitled-2

Why do we blog? We blog for fun. We blog to help others. We blog for personal accountability. We blog for money. We blog to be fit. Ultimately, we blog to be found.

So, we want to be found. How can I do that? What can I do to make my site available to the widest audience and be found?

We do this with Accessibility and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). During the presentation, we will demonstrate some actionable items to implement on your websites to be both more accessible and visible to search engines.

During the "Blogs, Accessibility, and SEO: Dispelling the Myths" presentation, the following will be covered:

  • What does it mean to be accessible?
  • What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
  • Doesn’t my blogging software do that for me?
  • Dispelling the myths of SEO and accessibility:
    • Wait, Wait…This is no ordinary lamp.
    • For only three installments of only $19.99.
    • Do I need 76 trombones.
    • Yeah, you need a test.
  • What practical actions can we take to improve my accessibility and search engine visibility?

Blogs, Accessibility, and SEO presented by Scott Stawarz. Let us know if you have any questions!
