Introducing Bizzabo Our Mobile App!

Posted: May 15th, 2013 | Author: | Filed under: FitBloggin'13, News | No Comments »

Many of you who have attended FitBloggin’ before know we always have a large printed agenda, plus printed routes, letters, and numerous signs at the event. Some of these things are valuable, of course, but over the years I’ve cringed at the amount of wasted paper I have personally thrown away post-conference. In an effort to reduce our overall dependence on printed products we are happy to offer you Bizzabo, our official mobile app for FitBloggin’13.

Session Overview: When You Have a Lot to Lose

Posted: April 15th, 2013 | Author: | Filed under: Sessions | No Comments »

Everyone who has struggled with trying to lose weight knows that it’s a frustrating, bumpy process. For those who have over 100 pounds to lose, it can seem like a never-ending cycle that others can’t relate to. In this session moderated by Emily Sandford of Skinny Emmie, we’ll have an open discussion about what it is like to start, try, and succeed at losing over 100 pounds. We are all in this quest for health together. This inclusive, open discussion is unlike any other you will find elsewhere. It will be a powerful bonding experience, and you will realize that you are not alone in this.

We’ll discuss:

  • The “aha moment,” or lack of one – and the decision to make a change.
  • Beyond the food and exercise: what other things in life did you realize needed modification?
  • Finding and keeping motivation
  • Does “the how” matter?
  • Handling the bumps of slip-ups and weight re-gain
  • Pushing towards home: what happens when you reach your goal?

Session Overview: Photography for Blogging: Tech, Art, and Heart

Posted: April 8th, 2013 | Author: | Filed under: Sessions | 1 Comment »

While people can spend a lifetime mastering photography, creating better photos for your blog can be easy, fun, and fulfilling.

The first step is getting a basic understanding of the technical aspects of photography, such as aperture, shutter speed and ISO. With these mechanics in mind, we can consider some general rules about lighting, composition and artistic effects that go into crafting a more visually appealing photo.

But the most important aspect of a photo is capturing the moment, nailing the “emotionally perfect” shot, and using the camera as a tool to see the world through a whole new lens.

I’ll share an overview of my workflow, shortcuts to get from camera to blog, and tons of resources and links to continue your photography adventures.

Thanks to all our generous sponsors, we are again able to make even more volunteer-style positions available this year!

We do things a little differently than some conferences. These aren’t traditional “volunteer” positions or your run-of-the-mill “scholarships.” FitBloggin’ will now be accepting applications for assistantships to help bloggers who are unable to attend the conference for financial reasons.

Here’s how it works: In exchange for a free ticket to FitBloggin’13, each assistant will cover one session as a LiveBlogger.  Read the rest of Over 30 FitBloggin’13 Assistantships Available!»»
